CIM ECO 1000 FAQS

Is there a trowel grade version of the product?

For areas where a higher viscosity trowel grade product is required, CIM 1000 Trowel is recommended.

Can ECO 1000 be used with other CIM Products

Yes. CIM ECO 1000 is compatible with other CIM coatings and primers.

Can ECO 1000 be used to repair existing CIM products

Yes. CIM ECO 1000 can be used to repair existing CIM using the standard surface preparation recommendations for repairing existing CIM membranes.

Can I get the same warranty for CIM ECO 1000 as CIM 1000?

Yes. The same warranties are available for both CIM 1000 and CIM ECO 1000

Do I need to wear a respirator in confined spaces when I apply ECO 1000?

CIM ECO 1000 does not contain solvent and does not require the use of intrinsically safe tools. In many cases, respirators are not required to use CIM ECO 1000 provided the space is adequately ventilated and the coating is not being sprayed. Use of a respirator should be evaluated for each enclosed space based on tank size, coated area, ventilation, and application technique.

Do I need to wear a respirator when spraying ECO 1000?

Yes. Respirators are required when spraying CIM ECO 1000

Does ECO 1000 come in different colors?

CIM ECO 1000 is black in color. Contact your local CIM representative for options for using pigmented topcoats with CIM products.

Is ECO 1000 potable water approved?

No. For applications requiring potable water approvals, please consider CIM 1061.

How much Part A and Part B should I mix together?

CIM ECO 1000 comes in kits the are pre-portioned in the correct mix ratio. Always add one full jug of Activator to a full pail of Premix. Do not mix partial kits as this can effect the curing and physical properties of the product.

How many square feet will one kit yield?

The theoretical coverage rate of CIM ECO 1000 depends on the thickness applied.

What kind of surfaces should it be applied on?

CIM ECO 1000 is designed for use on concrete, wood, and steel surfaces. Use of CIM EMT Primer or CIM ECO Primer is recommended to achieve the best adhesion and minimize the effect of moisture in the substrate.

Does CIM ECO 1000 need a primer?

In some circumstances CIM ECO 1000 can be applied without primer if the substrate moisture content is low. However, using primer is required when the substrate has high moisture content or when the strong possible adhesion is required. CIM EMT Primer and CIM ECO Primer will both reduce pinholes and improve adhesion for CIM ECO 1000.

Does this product contain any VOC’s?

CIM ECO 1000 does not contain solvents and is free of VOC’s

Can this product be used on LEED required projects?

Yes. CIM ECO 1000 currently meets LEED V4.1 requirements for VOC’s and indoor air quality (CDPH 01350) and by soon to be released LEED V5.

Can this product be used on vertical surfaces?

Yes. CIM ECO 1000 can be applied to vertical surfaces at a reduced thickness. To achieve the full thickness, 2 or 3 coats are typically needed.

What is the application temperature range for CIM ECO 1000?

CIM ECO 1000 can be applied at 50°F (10°C) or higher as long as the surface temperature is at least 5°F (3°C) higher than the dew point. CIM ECO 1000 may be preheated to facilitate application when the temperature is below 60°F (15°C), but the working time may be reduced. At high ambient temperatures, CIM ECO 1000 can still be applied but may have a reduced working time during application.

What is the cure/in-service time for CIM ECO 1000?

CIM ECO 1000 can typically be placed into service 24-48hr after installation, though the exact cure time depends on the temperature.
