What is conformal coating?

Conformal coatings are thin, protective polymer films applied to printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electronic assemblies to guard against moisture, contaminants, and corrosion while maintaining electrical performance. Typical dry film thickness is 25–250 μm, depending on chemistry and environment. Conformal coatings help improve reliability, reduce enclosure needs, and support long service life across automotive, industrial, aerospace/defense, and consumer electronics.
