Superabsorbents for Energy & Infrastructure Drilling

Energy & infrastructureSuperabsorbents for Energy & Infrastructure Drilling

Horizontal directional drilling (HDD) activities for oil and gas extraction, pipeline construction, utility installations, and tunneling generate large volumes of fluid waste, often referred to as drill cuttings or drilling mud. HDD fluid waste can present operational challenges due to environmental regulations regarding the disposal of liquid waste.

Superabsorbent polymers (SAP) are used by many HDD professionals to solidify drilling waste fluid for ease of management, transport, and disposal. The superior absorbency of SAP technologies allows maximum waste treatment volume with minimal reagent, which saves drilling companies money on reagent mixing, transportation, and landfill disposal charges.

Types of Waste TreatedĀ

  • Oil and gas drilling fluids
  • Utility drilling fluids
  • Pipeline drilling fluids
  • Tunneling waste fluids
